If you’re not planning for 2017, you’re planning for failure. The new year is a good time to take a look at your wins from the prior year and your list of things you need to change or work on in the coming year.
If things aren’t going as well as you would like in your business, don’t bury your head in the sand and hope for the best or you’ll end up like K-Mart, Blockbuster, Polaroid and many more who are disappearing.
Implementing your Planning for 2017
If you find yourself procrastinating on any big items in your business like updating your website, buying a piece of equipment or revamping your infrastructure, now would be a good time to put that plan in motion.
From concept to completion of a well thought out website will take between two to four months on the low end and four to nine months on the high end. I’m basing the low end on simple websites and the high end on complex eCommerce websites. You also need to consider your time and the attention you can give to the project. The more focused you are on it, the faster it will be completed.
The world today is changing at lightning speed. The internet and technology are mind boggling on how fast things change and become outdated.
If you think your business needs to change, it probably does! Right now is a good time to stop whatever you’re doing and start planning for 2017 if you haven’t already.
Don’t dabble in doing things you’re not good at or because you think they are a good distraction or may be fun to do. While you’re doing that, the competition is killing it and burying you in their dust.
Do what your good at like running your business and hire experts for the things you’re not good at or don’t have time for.
Business Failure Rates
I’m sure you’ve heard about the statistic that 90% of all businesses fail. It’s true and as a business coach and a lifelong marketing expert, I have seen hundreds of businesses go out of business because they’re trying to save money or they keep procrastinating until it’s too late. If you’re not planning for 2017, you’re planning for failure!
Having a business is an investment. Sometimes your business can seem like a bottomless money pit. If you’re not willing to invest in the advancement of your business you’re fooling yourself into thinking you will survive. You won’t. I don’t want that to happen to you.
That may sound harsh, but I don’t want your business to become a statistic. If you know your business needs a face lift in any area; get a loan, get an investor, find a partner, become creative and find a way to get the money.
