Business Success Strategy versus Personal Success

Business Success versus success in your personal life can be a major struggle for entrepreneurs and business owners.  Many business owners believe that they need to keep their nose to the grindstone constantly in order to be successful in business.  That is a Myth!  It’s ok to work long hours for a short time however; if you continually do this your personal life will struggle.  In order to be a really grounded individual you need both.

The Law of Diminishing Returns

You can’t be complete if you’re only successful at your business.  You need to work on your personal life as well.  One of things people see in me is my drive and my success at business.  What they don’t see is how I take care of things at home.  The most important part of my life is my family.  Every year I make sure we take either a week of vacation or several shorter getaways in the winter months.  I also plan 2-3 getaways over the course of the summer.

I just came back from a week’s vacation with my three soon to be all adult children.  We had an incredible time at the beach, the drive-in movie, mini-golf, shopping, grilling, games, tennis etc.  This is time that I will never be able to relive.  What I built was a memory both for myself and my family.  The best part and the gift I gave myself and my family was to not open my computer for five days!  You know what happened, my business didn’t cease to exist and we had an awesome time.

The bottom line is this; when you take care of yourself personally you will be more successful in your business.  By taking time out for yourself and your family you will come back more refreshed, more creative and be a healthier individual.

The other three business success strategies that I practice are:

  • Eat well
  • Exercise
  • 7 hours of rest
